Hey, a few months ago I started walking 10-13 miles a day at least 4-5 days a week to lose some weight. When I just started doing this I'd feel pain in my legs about 1:40-1:50 hour mark (~7 miles). These days my legs are fine, but I feel my lower back (right above the ass basically) starts hurting after 2h mark or so, which slows me down, as I usually start at almost 4 m/hr but end up closer to 3m/hr.
I suppose its just the muscle getting tired of keeping my back in the same position for hours, as I normally lead a seditary lifestyle. So I was wondering if there was any good excercises for strengthening my lower back. I am pretty sure its not abdominal muscles as I can gazillions of crunches – untill I lose count basically from my head going dizzy lol.

How old are your shoes? Like running your shoes are a key factor to how your body feels at the end of the distance. If your shoes are more than ~500 miles old than you may need to consider replacing them.
You can also try yoga to help with the back pain.
my dad is passing a kidney stoen and is in alot of pain. what are some of the best ways to help reduce the pain? aside from drinking lots of water, which he is.
he can try a heating pad for cramping and pain pills are good also
Lately, I've been having pain in my upper back and neck.
My spine sticks out whenever I bend my neck of upper back slightly. It kind of make me throb in that area. It's been going for while and now it's getting worse.
What's wrong? Is there anything I can do to help?
Yes, I know I should see a doctor but that's just not possible right now.
Is this a serious problem?
It sounds like misalignments in the spine. This can be irritated or caused by poor posture. Misalignments in the spine and poor posture puts pressure on the nerves and irritates muscles which can cause different variations of pain sensations.
I would visit a local chiropractor when you can. In the mean time I would get this pillow: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/product/CLTractionPillow
It helps with neck and upper back pain.
I am about 5 weeks pregnant. With my daughter I had severe back pain but it wasn't until the second trimester? Is it possible to have severe back pain during the first trimester? Anyone experience this?
Yes, I had back pain with my first but not this soon.
Yes. When I was about 4 weeks pregnant, I had backpain from hell just from moving some boxes around, and I was so sore that I could barely move. That was before I knew I was pregnant.
I have been experiencing lower back pain for the past two days. I feel as though my lower back is very tight. Over the weekend, I did a lot of walking through New York and Atlantic City. It is a lot more walking than I normally do. Also, I slept on my belly, which sometimes stiffens my lower back the next day. I think it just might be tight, but I really would like to try some excercises. I am going to go to the gym tonight and I will use the machine that works the lower back. It might help loosen the tension. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
By walking more than usual, you worked muscles that don't normally get worked as hard, and by sleeping on your belly, they didn't get a chance to relax properly (since you stated sleeping in that position tends to cause them to stiffen). Heating pads will help with the stiffness. Before you go to the gym, make sure you do some good stretches, as well as after the workout. If the pain persists, see a massage therapist, or at least have someone massage the area.
I have terrible lower back pain that only seems to surface when I lie down. In other words, when I lie down I feel ok but when I get up I feel as though I've been run over by a truck and my lower back is crushed. My current mattress is a Sealy Pillow Top (about 6 years old) and I think I need a new one but there are so many options….help! Here are a few of my questions….
1. Is an Extra Firm Mattress Best? If not, what kind?
2. What is the Best Mattress Brand for Back Pain?
3. Are Memory Foam Mattresses and Good?
4. Has Anyone Tried Bedding—Mattresses/Beds from IKEA?
5. Is it ok to buy Mattresses on line? What sites are best?
Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed!!!
Memory foam mattresses are comfy if you buy a really thick one.
I probably wouldn't buy a mattress from IKEA because they are probably really cheap and not very high quality.
I would try Overstock or Amazon if you're looking for the best price.
I've had a dull pain deep in my back on the left side, where I think my kidney is. I dont know if I should have it checked out or if it is just a strained muscle….I have a toddler that I'm constantly chasing after, picking up, and some times not using my weight correctly on my back/legs. Are there other symptoms of kidney infections besides pain?
When I pee it feels like someone is stabbing me with a broadsword up the pee hole.
hi, im hoping someone can help me with this or at least maybe someone else has experienced this also. im 35 weeks pregnant and have been getting pain in the upper right part of my back since about 31 weeks which has gradually got worse as the weeks have gone on.. it radiates around my side into my ribs and as far as my breast bone. its like a burning sharp stabbing pain on my bones. it mainly affects me when i sit for more then ten minutes and gets more painful the longer i sit. standing up relieves it but lying down relieves it the most, however if i have sat for too long it takes a long time to go away even after i have lay down. i got the winter vomiting bug last week and ended up in hospital because of the pain and the vomiting they thought it might be my gall bladder. they tested it and its not that thank god and all my bloods came back fine. could something be possibly leaning on a nerve?if anyone has any idea or tips i would really appreciate it as it is really getting me down as i cant even sit at the dinner tabel to eat, i have to keep lying down all the time. ive tried hot water bottles and pain killers etc…..thanks for reading
Have you called your Dr. or midwife? I would let them know, could be you just pulled a muscle up there but it's always best to be sure. I would call them, let them know what's up, and see what they have to say. Good luck!
