Ok I have scoliosis and I have to see a chiropractor twice a week. My back hurts very very bad most of the day. I can’t walk around and for long periods of time without siiting down. I don’t like having to take pain killers all of the times so I stay in pain.
I’m only a teenager and this pain has really effected my life. I can no longer participate in sports anymore because of the never ending pain. A car wreck a year ago damaged my back even more. I exercise 30 minutes every day to stay in good shape. And I eat healthy foods.
Is there any way to help my back, or do I have to live with this?
Thank You to everyone who has taken the time to answer my question. Any bit of info is greatly appreciated!

I would suggest you seek a trained massage therapist to work in conjunction with your chiropractor. If you can get the muscles in your back to release some of the tension they are putting on your spine, it might help to make the chiropractic adjustments more effective. Sounds like you could have some spastic muscles in your back, and massage would definately help in that area, besides the fact that massage is very beneficial for circulation, and a state of relaxation. Hope this info. helps. I’m a certified massage therapist with a couple of clients that suffer from scoliosis. God Bless.
I literally walk about 3-4 duplex’s down to let my friends dog out while shes gone for the weekend and by the time i walk back my lower back, near my hips starts cramping and feels tight. As well when i sit in a chair for 5-10 mins at least i get the same discomfort on my right side of my spine in the middle where we have the curve before our hips. The only time i feel good is when im laying on me side in bed (having a pillow behind me or sitting on the couch doesn’t work) I’m worried because i plan on having a natural childbirth and have been told good luck if i dont walk and stay active, but every time i try to exercise to prepare i get pinching and discomfort. I’m able to deal with it, but if its causing me discomfort right now trying to prepare with exercising should i continue? will it really make a difference in my natural childbirth?
I know its not a hicks contraction =( it always and only happens when we walk, or im sitting. the spine pinch and hip discomfort are not in the same place. Ive noticed i cant go shopping, exercise, or even drive somewhere with my husband without the discomfort (when i was about 2 or 3 i was in a car accident and was going to a chiropractor, ive noticed alot over the years, a discomfort in my back, but it wasn’t to bad tell i became pregnant. But by trying to be active am i causing myself unneeded pain? or should i continue cuz it will really help in the end on the big day?
Well i would let your doctor know when you go in again but i think it could be just the baby. With my first….she was in my back alot. But with this one….ive had just alittle pain in my back. But thats just me. But i would ask your doctor maybe he says something else. Good Luck!
Physio -therapist advise Exercises with Belts for curing back pain, while doctors prescribe expesive medicines.
ordinarily back pain can certainly be cured by exercise and yoga. But back pain due to any other reason may need doctor’s advice.
Looking for sites on back pain relief exercises as well.
Keep your back as straight as possible. Good posture is key to preventing a sore, stiff back. Massage is fantastic to relieve back pain — use some natural oil for greater effect. Regular exercise helps loosen the muscles & joints and maintain body flexibility. This is important to prevent sudden cramps and lower back pain.
I was involved in a car accident about two years ago. Since then I’ve had terrible back pain on and off. Some days I don’t want to get out of bed. Over the counter pain relievers don’t do much for it. I can’t afford professional help.
Any ideas for exercises or other tips to relieve some of this pain? I’m in my late 20s with bad knees.
See a chiropracter, I hurt my neck working out and when I woke up the next morning I couldnt even move literally and so I went to a chiro and felt better almost instantly.
Try laying on your stomach then placing our hands palm down on the floor lift your torso off the ground and bend it as far back as possible with lifting your pelvis off the ground.
Sit on the ground with your legs out in front of you, take one leg and place it over the other so that your foot is next to your other knee. Using the opposite arm reach across the leg that is off the ground and use it to twist your torso. Switch and do the other side.

I’ve been suffering with lower back pain for a few months now, but it’s been more severe in the past couple of weeks where i have been out of work and the season for cricket is over. I went to see the doctor and he felt around and said that my pain is simply musclular and that to get better i need to get out and exercise more. Fresh air, go running, swimming etc… could this be true? I am confused as to why i need to exercise to cure my back pain!
How does this cure it though?!
When you excercise, this strenghtens the muscles that go around your spine and you have these top and bottom inter twining with each. If any of them become weak (and this can happen to the best of us) then you will begin to find your lower back aching. By building up the muscles round the spine and your hips you will find that the pain will simply disappear. I’m not sure how tall you are but tall people should always excercise there backs as they are proned to back backs and stooping (dropping the shoulders down). Good luck and if ya anymore help feel free to get in touch.
whenever I go for a couple of weeks without exercising and lifting weights I get low back pain. My back will start to feel stiff and when I exercise I feel great. However, I had a fall a couple of weeks ago which created a contusion on the bone next to my spine and pain went into my gluteus. Then the pain started to move around. My doctor said that that is a good sign as it is most likely muscular and not disc related. Now my lower back is aching but my doctor has me on no work/activity status. How do I know if the pain is my normal low back pain or related to my injury. He wants to send me to a physical medicine specialist buy that would require me to miss more work because the appt. is 9 days from now.
No, it makes it worse.
