How do I get rid of temporary lower back pain?

My lower back has been hurting for about a week now. How do I get rid of the pain without having to go to the chiropractor? I’ve been taking OTC back pain relievers, and they seem to help a little bit. Do you have any alternatives. I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

Actually pain relievers will only give you temporary relief at most. If you have had pain for a week, the ice/heat will seldom work as it is more effective in those first 48 hours.

What you need to do is stretch a few muscles as they are the likely source of most of your pain, and also get your joints moving.

But then you need to stretch as this should help. even once the pain has eased, you still need to work on your back to make sure the pain doesn’t come back.

How can I relieve pain from my lower back and knees?

After walking for 15-30 minutes+ I experience pain in my lower back and knees. Are there any exercises I can be doing to relieve this pain? I have shoe inserts for lower back pain but they don’t seem to be working.

As long as you have been to a dr and have ruled out any serious issues, then strengthening your core muscles will do wonders to ease your back pain. Your core muscles are the muscles in your torso and abs that support your spine. By having strong core muscles, they hold your spine in better alignment; allowing you to walk, without pain. As far as the pain in your knees it could be weakness that you need to build strength, or it could be the way you walk. You may not be walking/stepping properly so that overtime, the way you walk could be putting pressure on your joints and causing pain. Try doing an internet search for proper walking techniques and try to incorporate those into your walks. I have been wearing skecher shape-ups for a few months and I really like them; my lower back doesnt hurt now when i wear them for walks or even grocery shopping. But before you go and spend $100 on a potential “cure” I would try strenghening the core, making sure there is no physical problem, and making sure you are walking properly with proper alignment.

I am a 48 yr old man. there is a family history of osteoporosis on my mothers side. but my doctors insist that men do not get this problem. after a scan revealed that i have middle of the road levels of osteoporosis my doctors all 3 men just smirk and say that the clinic have over exaggerated and its shin splint even though the pain has now developed in my shoulders and neck. So if you you have some medical knowledge could you please give me some feed back. Thank you.

That’s really irresponsible of your doctor! Of course men can get osteoporosis, it’s just more common in women because of pregnancy and breast feeding. See a female doctor perhaps, or just find one with some common sense.

What I call my bra strap area…thoracic are. I have no one to massage it, and am looking fo idea that can bring relief to it. My arms can’t reach it. I have no helper.
Years ago, a spinal tap took a piece of bone out of my vertebrae……and so there’s a jagged hole in it about the size of a thumbnail…which is sizeable for a vertebrae. I’m big busted too, so it is bearing plenty of weight on a damaged bone.

Any ideas how to bring this area relief? My doctor is a dill and there’s no one else to go to.

you could try ,standing straight ,gently lean from the waist up ,to the left extending your left hand down the side of your left leg as far as you can comfortably reach,then slowly come back to the upright position,then repeat the action on the right side , repeat this movement for a cycle of ten ,and do the same at different times during the day,you may experience a crackling ,or feel the vertebrae ,moving back into place,and re aligning as they should be ,another very successful way is to lay on the floor , place an inverted saucer or small plate on the floor and manipulate or maneuver your vertebrae over the saucer the weight of your body can assist in pushing the bone in to assist in re aligning Chiropractors use a similar tactic by pushing down on the spine to correct the situation ,only they use wedges under the body, or have a collapsible bench that drops 4″ and with their pushing ,snap the bones into position ,you will hear a popping noise don`t be frightened it is air in the backbone,perfectly normal, people who have twisted spinal problems claim that after trying what i have suggested, brings Relief, especially MS.folk give it a try I hope it works for you
