I am having very bad lower back pain. I have had an MRI and have seen two different orthopedic surgeons. The MRI has come back completely clean as they say. Doesn’t show anything serious at all. I went to PT for 2 months and the only thing that helped during that time was when i got a short massage at the end of the session. I am now seeing a chiropractor who also says he can help. I am going to him three times a week. I feel good when I leave but just a little while later pain comes back. I sometimes wish I had a herniated disc because at least someone could tell me whats wrong. Can anyone offer advise? Has anyone else experienced this?
My lower back has been hurting for about 4 months. I’ve gone to a chiropractor at my gym for help. Recently I experienced intense pain travelling down my right leg while I was on vacation so I went to the doctor in another country. He took xrays and said that one of my discs was touching another one (possible herniated disc) but when I came to America my regular doctor said that it may be bursitis and has scheduled me for an MRI and gave me muscle relaxers and steriods. I’m confused since the pain seemed to originate in my lower back and am wondering if being overweight brought this on to me. Any doctors or people out there who know what I’m talking about? Advice please.
My daughter is in a lot of pain (it’s been months now) started as lower back pain that gradually got worse… We went to the doctor and they took x-rays…at first they said that it was probably sciatica, which we didn’t think it was…. since she didn’t have any pain in her leg… we went back a few times but they could never find what was wrong.. So I decided to take those x-rays to a Chiropractor doctor and he found out that she has a tilted pelvis and that one leg is slightly shorter than the other one, he did measurements, etc and you can obviously see that the pelvic is tilted…He recommended orthotics for her shoes and also adjustments…For a few months she was feeling better…But then all of the sudden she started having pain on the side of her hip and it got progressively worse, where it would be all around the back both hips and also groin area… The chiropractor did ultrasound therapy on her hip area, continued with alignments etc, but nothing would help…The pain was getting worse…We went back to her primary doctor and he thought she might have bursitis of the hip, he did a shot of cortisone and gave her anti-inflammatory meds, but as weeks went by, the pain was still there and getting worse…. She then, was referred to a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation doctor… He thought it was something irritated in her lower back (I forgot the name for that) anyway, so he gave her a shot in that area…..After a couple of weeks she was not getting any better or feeling any relief!……To make the story short, the pain in her groin area has gotten worse, she can’t not longer sit (not even for a few minutes) cause it’s so painful…the pain in her lower back is always there, along with the burning pain in her hip and groin area and sometimes she feels tingling on upper legs…. She was sent for a CT scan of her abdomen and pelvis and that came out normal… Thank GOD!….Now we are waiting for her MRI results of lower back….I’m totally devastated, my daughter is a young girl (22 yr) never had a problem in her back before, I don’t understand why she got so sick and so suddenly and unexpected. She recently graduated from school with a bachelor degree and she used to spend many hours sitting in front of her computer studying (that’s when her back pain slowly started) but after her graduation is when the pain really got bad!
The doctor she is seeing now think it might be a pinched nerve of the lumbar spine, but I have done a lot of research on this and I can’t find the combination of this pain she is experiencing (groin mainly -hip and back) due to a pinched nerve?
I’m so exhausted and I would give "anything for her to feel better" even trade places… has anyone have a clue what is this?

I am a 20 year old female, who for the past 3 years or so has had constant pain in my left upper back. It’s sort of an aching pain. Compared to my right upper back, the area feels heavy and tight, and like there’s a lot of pressure on my back. The area often feels like it often wants to be massaged and stretched, or I’ll feel like I need to crack my back. It also affects my neck on the left side- it will sometimes crack, and it doesn’t do that on the right side. The pain will sometimes radiate down my arm, or I’ll have pain in my chest. I have been to my regular doctor, but she hasn’t given me any answers. I have also have been to a chiropractor, and that didn’t help. I have never had a back injury, and do have mild scoliosis- but that wasn’t a concern of my doctor or the chiropractor as being the cause of the pain. The back pain doesn’t stop me from doing any activities or living a normal life, but is just something that is annoyingly there on a daily basis. Does anyone else out there have a similar problem, know what could be the cause of the pain, or have any suggestions on what to do about it?
Thank you.

Alternatives to Chiropratic for chronic upper back and neck pain?
I’ve had upper back (shoulder) pain for a few years now (I’m 25) – and recently developed neck pain. Going to the chiropractor does hlpe alleviate the pain, but it does not go away completely. And I’m worried the more I go to the choripractor, the more I will need it.
I’ve tried sports therapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, chinese medicine ball, nothing has worked as good as chiropractic, but I would like an alternative.
You could try a TINs unit, which electronically blocks the pain signals that your body sends to your brain. You wear it on your hip like a cell phone, there are pads you attach to your body, where the pain bothers you.
I am on pain meds. They work great…BUT are practically impossible to quit on your own once you begin them. I don’t necessarily recommend THAT path.
Do you know WHY the pain is there? Have you had an MRI, X-rays? Once the reason is revealed, maybe your condition will be easier to treat.
Be well.
I was involved in a car accident almost 5 years ago. I’ve been to one chiropractor for almost 2 years with no results. Then to 2 different physical therapy, with little relief besides when they pulled my neck away from my body. I’ve had many injections in my back, 1 lasting 3-4 months, another for 1 month or so, and the others maybe a week or so, sometimes nothing at all.
I’ve had 2 Epidurals done, one lasted 3 months the other a month.
I’ve gone to a sports medicine doctor, a few other specialists. Most not recommending surgery because they cannot find the problem. I had a cat scan and a MRI and showed there was something a bit strange in my T 7-8 in my back. I have to take vicodin everyday for pain, and sometimes it doesn’t even work. I’m a healthly 22 year old. Working out at the gym seems to help my back sometimes. It’s a sharp pain in my upper right side of my back, near my spine too. If you push on certain spots on my spine near the pain, its really tender.
I’m running out of help and ideas, please someone, guide me towards someone to see, or some kind of doctor, I will not do surgery as i’ve been recommended not to, so I’m not sure what to do. I just need help, I want to be normal again and not in pain. I still can barely do the things I love and it’s really starting to take effect on how I live my life and my mood. Please someone…. Help..
I live near SF, California if that helps.
