I am having very bad lower back pain. I have had an MRI and have seen two different orthopedic surgeons. The MRI has come back completely clean as they say. Doesn’t show anything serious at all. I went to PT for 2 months and the only thing that helped during that time was when i got a short massage at the end of the session. I am now seeing a chiropractor who also says he can help. I am going to him three times a week. I feel good when I leave but just a little while later pain comes back. I sometimes wish I had a herniated disc because at least someone could tell me whats wrong. Can anyone offer advise? Has anyone else experienced this?
I’ve been having a bad pain in my upper back around the left shoulder and spine area . It got worse after my folk dance class on Sunday. It’s a piercing sensation and hurts really bad when I move, even when I don’t do anything and just sit. It’s especially bad when I try to turn my head or my upper body to the side, so I can’t look over my left shoulder or anything and I’m being careful by avoiding any sudden movements. The pain seems to spread across the shoulder to the left arm too, so that my arm feels a little numb sometimes and it’s slightly tingling..
Is this a muscle strain or a spasm? I can’t figure out what’s wrong. I think the cause might’ve been a bad posture or something because I woke up with this pain. I’ve tried stretching in every way possible and it’s still there, even after getting a massage twice on the left side of my upper back. Any advise on other methods I could use to relieve the pain? Or should I just see a doctor straight away or is it better to wait a few more days for it to go away?

Butt cheek and shoulder pain on the drive. or how i sleep some?
When I stretch or bend down to pull me from the back of my lower leg. If I drive I feel uncomfortable, so I moved around to get relief. Is sometimes unbearable. I have done my more than 16 years a lot of arm and neck bends. Etc. .. can someone please help .. I have relxers muscle advil, May Thomas. But nothing really When you feel it is best when i use the definition of massage image. is blamed for sciatica pain at the top of my shoulder from my people when I sit or place?
I think your voice is sciatica Most people describe deep severe pain that starts low on one side of the back and then shoot down. buttock and leg movements are some I was pregnant with both. With my first. So bad I can not lift my feet to reduce Not bend or lift sitting in low soft chairs will drain your pain. I see a chiropractor and my air pipe and she used pencils. Such as objects and realigned my sciatica caused by irritation of the nerve Both sciatic pinched or stretched. Most of the time does not remember doing anything to hurt yourself. good chiro will show some good stretches, so you can prevent other injuries.
I hurt my back about a week 1/2 ago by lifting something heavy. Went to Chiro who thought it was probably a muscle sprain after evaluation. The pain was into to my butt not my leg. Sharp pain mostly when putting pressure on it, or bending. The pain was getting a little better. I went running (I know stupid!) and the pain returned with a vengeance. I met a orthopedic MD when I was on vacation who stretched me and readjusted my back. Felt better right after but pain eventually came back. I’ve been taking advil and stretching since saturday. went back to chiro for massage. Mosty now it only hurts when I step forward and pressure on it. I keep stretching. In certain positions I feel my leg pop and feels locked. Is that bad? How long before it heals? Am I taking the right steps toward treatment? Any ideas or suggestions?

back massage. Chronic back pain in upper back?
What I call my bra strap area…thoracic are. I have no one to massage it, and am looking fo idea that can bring relief to it. My arms can’t reach it. I have no helper.
Years ago, a spinal tap took a piece of bone out of my vertebrae……and so there’s a jagged hole in it about the size of a thumbnail…which is sizeable for a vertebrae. I’m big busted too, so it is bearing plenty of weight on a damaged bone.
Any ideas how to bring this area relief? My doctor is a dill and there’s no one else to go to.
you could try ,standing straight ,gently lean from the waist up ,to the left extending your left hand down the side of your left leg as far as you can comfortably reach, then slowly come back to the upright position, then repeat the action on the right side , repeat this movement for a cycle of ten ,and do the same at different times during the day,you may experience a crackling ,or feel the vertebrae ,moving back into place, and re aligning as they should be ,another very successful way is to lay on the floor , place an inverted saucer or small plate on the floor and manipulate or maneuver your vertebrae over the saucer the weight of your body can assist in pushing the bone in to assist in re aligning Chiropractors use a similar tactic by pushing down on the spine to correct the situation ,only they use wedges under the body, or have a collapsible bench that drops 4″ and with their pushing ,snap the bones into position ,you will hear a popping noise don`t be frightened it is air in the backbone, perfectly normal, people who have twisted spinal problems claim that after trying what i have suggested, brings Relief, especially MS.folk give it a try I hope it works for you

Can you offer sound advice for what it is that I can do to first find relief, then fix the situation?
This is scenario – 10 years ago I flipped off a SeaDoo. Instantaneous stinging ran up and down my back. It was all I could do to keep myself on my tippytoes to keep my mouth above the waves. For weeks my back spasmed. Things died down for a while although I was not able to carry heavier items or do some of the crazier stunts without consequences. Then 4 years ago I did a full stand to sit at work. The chair was broken and I went with it to the floor. The pain was immense but I continued. The constant pain has gotten so bad, I really hurt lifting my arms above my head, it pops when I bend forward, pain radiates up to neck and leads to frequent migraines, I can barely stand to let anyone touch my neck or mid back – between shoulders – …minor relief in laying prone, knees elevated, towel under neck (careful I must be or the towel causes cramping in the neck), sitting or standing there is pain. Its almost as bad as some of the migraines. I’ve done MRI which showed a loss of signal and what the docs say is DDD. One chiro told me that the soft inner parts of the T 7 vertebrae pushed into the T6 vertebrae. It seems the docs only want to do pain meds – but yet not enough to kill the pain and get me active again. I NEED ME BACK! I’ve done months of accupuncture, massage (1 works for 2 hours of wonderful relief the other brings on cramping and migraine activity), pain meds, NSAIDs, TENS, PT (which said they could do nothing more for me at the time), tried to stay moving but things have gotten so bad I really struggle to make it through the day with required things, Im even looking into Biofeedback — just to help me cope. Thats first then I can try to help fix the problem…hopefully
Do you have any helpful suggestions – and not the leafy or hops filled kind? Thank you
I must endeavor to bring back who I was before the pain
My PCP is great – just his nurse is not with it and complicates any messages to the doc. Second oppinions – Chiro x2 – one is great the other was a quack – Good Chiro (Pete) says he cant help anymore than what we’ve been able to do now – he was pretty bummed by that too. PT – moved offices cant get to them now – saw him 6 weeks at 2x/wk. some change but aggrivation on migraines and extreme cramping were bonkers- were to work on that next til they moved….. uhhh Im ashamed now that I cant fix this on my own – distraction doesnt work with the migraines nor on this pain anymore – Ive done what I know and I am out of options….but not out of hope yet
is it best to get the back fixed by a specialist. I mean, will the blood flow be cut off to the leg at some point, and is the pain in the leg a blood clot or what?
everyone had superb answers. Thank you.
the herniated disc thing seems to be a popular problem.
I have a cousin who just went thru a tortuous back operation and aftermath of 18 months.
I have a female cousin who has had 3 back operations and warns me of numbness in the leg and that she’s lost her driving privileges because of it.
I met a maintenance man here at the apartments who successfully had a back operation to relieve pressure on the nerve and his was successful and no pain afterward.
I knew of a boss years ago who was playing tennis and ended up having to have a back operation, he seemed ok afterward, never mentioned pain.
I also knew of a neighbor who continued to insist that I get the back operation because she said hers was successful and without pain afterwards.
I used to have a chiropractor but he said he will no longer see me because it’s an injury and nothing further he can do. When i was his patient he told me to exercise if I could, but "no" massage.
I heard the CT scan was better than the MRI with regard to back problems. Am I wrong?
I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible upper back pain. That was 5 days ago and the pain seems to be intensifying. Last evening I had a massage which provided temporary relief but today the pain is much worse. Should I see a doctor or a chiropractor? Also, what can I do in the meantime to help alleviate the pain?
