Hello, Since i was about 17 i have been suffering from chronic back pain, which actually forced me out of school my senior year. I had a severe sciatica which was pinching the nerve so bad i could barely move. I walked really slowly, i coulden’t turn my head, i had to be homeschooled for the rest of my senior year. ANYWAY. i am 19 now, and it is better, i can move better, but i still have a nagging pain in my lower back that will not quit. I know i do have a herniated disc, and Degenerative Disc Disease. Does anyone know any therapy that can help aleviate the pain? Please let me know. Thanks.
My daughter is in a lot of pain (it’s been months now) started as lower back pain that gradually got worse… We went to the doctor and they took x-rays…at first they said that it was probably sciatica, which we didn’t think it was…. since she didn’t have any pain in her leg… we went back a few times but they could never find what was wrong.. So I decided to take those x-rays to a Chiropractor doctor and he found out that she has a tilted pelvis and that one leg is slightly shorter than the other one, he did measurements, etc and you can obviously see that the pelvic is tilted…He recommended orthotics for her shoes and also adjustments…For a few months she was feeling better…But then all of the sudden she started having pain on the side of her hip and it got progressively worse, where it would be all around the back both hips and also groin area… The chiropractor did ultrasound therapy on her hip area, continued with alignments etc, but nothing would help…The pain was getting worse…We went back to her primary doctor and he thought she might have bursitis of the hip, he did a shot of cortisone and gave her anti-inflammatory meds, but as weeks went by, the pain was still there and getting worse…. She then, was referred to a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation doctor… He thought it was something irritated in her lower back (I forgot the name for that) anyway, so he gave her a shot in that area…..After a couple of weeks she was not getting any better or feeling any relief!……To make the story short, the pain in her groin area has gotten worse, she can’t not longer sit (not even for a few minutes) cause it’s so painful…the pain in her lower back is always there, along with the burning pain in her hip and groin area and sometimes she feels tingling on upper legs…. She was sent for a CT scan of her abdomen and pelvis and that came out normal… Thank GOD!….Now we are waiting for her MRI results of lower back….I’m totally devastated, my daughter is a young girl (22 yr) never had a problem in her back before, I don’t understand why she got so sick and so suddenly and unexpected. She recently graduated from school with a bachelor degree and she used to spend many hours sitting in front of her computer studying (that’s when her back pain slowly started) but after her graduation is when the pain really got bad!
The doctor she is seeing now think it might be a pinched nerve of the lumbar spine, but I have done a lot of research on this and I can’t find the combination of this pain she is experiencing (groin mainly -hip and back) due to a pinched nerve?
I’m so exhausted and I would give "anything for her to feel better" even trade places… has anyone have a clue what is this?

Do I need a referral from my doctor to get an appointment to see a neurologist?
I am currently seeing my doctor for a number of things including neuropathy, diabetes and 2 herniated discs in my lower back. He has told me several times that he can not treat me for long term chronic pain yet has only referred me to a pain specialist who only does injections on my back and doesn’t help with the pain for the neuropathy. I have explained to him numerous times that the injections aren’t helping with the leg and feet throbbing pain due to the neuropathy. He still refuses to refer me to a neurologist and keeps telling me to go to the pain specialist.
I got a herniated disc when I was 17 and now I am 21. 90% of the pain has went away, naturally. My neurosurgeon did not want to operate on me. I used to have sciatics on both right and left leg, but now it is only left leg. MRI showed impingment on right nerve, never on left nerve (go figure). I haven’t taken an MRI within last 2 years. Within 1st year herniated disc was large. 2nd year, took MRI and herniated disc dried up and decreased by 50%. I do not have any back pain, but sometimes it hurts and goes away next day. I do not have pain upon flexion, but some on extension. Also, I recently starting stretching my hamstring to gain flexibility. I have gained flexibility, but my sciatica went from minimal pain (sciatica never went completely away, permenant nerve damage?), to low pain (meaning it went up a little, to the point where i notice it now).
What is wrong? Is this permanent nerve damage?
I am 26 weeks pregnant and during the early weeks I began to suffer slight back pain, now it is progressively worse. I was diagnosed two months ago with "a touch of sciatica" since then I feel it is much worse. I walk for exercise, but now I I hobble, ( I walked 5 miles yesterday, I try to get 15 miles a week and I want to be in shape for labor ) I cannot stretch, enough , it hurts so much, a sharp pain in my lower lower back almost my bottom. What can I do? I rested today but there is no improvement in the pain. If I sit too much my feet and ankles swell and I hobble, if I exercise I hobble. (my OB warned me about deep vein thrombosis so I need to stay active) Please only helpful responses, I don’t need to be welcomed into the "wonderful world of pregnancy" no sardonic responses please!

MS treatment changes for life
Ive been looking for a good supportive mattress that will hopefully alleviate some of my pain while sleeping. I have very bad back probs (had surgery for herniated disk last year but still have pain) and also have sciatica all through right leg. Can anyone please give me a good recommendation for a bed that may help with these problems?

Who had a hernia disc disease in their neck caused pain during or after the walk?

I need to lose the 50 pounds of weight that I packed on during my pregnancy to get to my goal weight of 120 pounds. I have 2 problems. I’m breastfeeding so I can’t restrict my calorie intake too much and I’m also injured. I have 2 herniated disks in my lower back and because of this I have a really horrible case of sciatica. To sabotage my efforts even further I have a debilitating case of endometriosis that leaves me doubled over in pain on an almost daily basis. So basically I’m in pain from my lower back down almost all of the time and I’m exhausted from being a new mom. How can I drop this weight without working out? Is there some weight training that I could do with my arms or something? I have no idea how to handle this so any advice would be wonderful.
Thank you!
