Health Tip: What May Trigger Neck Pain

Title: Health Tip: What May Trigger Neck Pain Category: Health News Created: 8/2/2010 8:10:00 PM Last Editorial Review: 8/3/2010

About two months ago, my back started hurting, lower right side, near a previous injury (herniated disc).?

The pain is nothing like as severe as the herniation, but it travels all the way down my right leg, and my spine seems to have developed a curvature, i.e., my torso leans markedly to the left when I stand as straight as I am able. How serious are these symptoms?
I see. NOBODY has any opinion on this. Thanks a lot.

What can I do after 5 years of extreme back pain?

I was involved in a car accident almost 5 years ago. I’ve been to one chiropractor for almost 2 years with no results. Then to 2 different physical therapy, with little relief besides when they pulled my neck away from my body. I’ve had many injections in my back, 1 lasting 3-4 months, another for 1 month or so, and the others maybe a week or so, sometimes nothing at all.
I’ve had 2 Epidurals done, one lasted 3 months the other a month.

I’ve gone to a sports medicine doctor, a few other specialists. Most not recommending surgery because they cannot find the problem. I had a cat scan and a MRI and showed there was something a bit strange in my T 7-8 in my back. I have to take vicodin everyday for pain, and sometimes it doesn’t even work. I’m a healthly 22 year old. Working out at the gym seems to help my back sometimes. It’s a sharp pain in my upper right side of my back, near my spine too. If you push on certain spots on my spine near the pain, its really tender.

I’m running out of help and ideas, please someone, guide me towards someone to see, or some kind of doctor, I will not do surgery as i’ve been recommended not to, so I’m not sure what to do. I just need help, I want to be normal again and not in pain. I still can barely do the things I love and it’s really starting to take effect on how I live my life and my mood. Please someone…. Help..

I live near SF, California if that helps.

pinched nerve in upper back (maybe)- how can I get relief?? read on?

This morning I moved the wrong way apparently, and now I have quite a bit of discomfort in my back. It’s to the left of where my right shoulder blade ends and before the start of my spine. I’m assuming it’s a pinched nerve, because when I move a particular way it hurts really bad, and I get really dizzy as well as feel some trouble taking a deep breath. Should I be conserned enough to go to the doctor? What could I do to help this pain stop and go away? Uggg- it hurts! :(

Hurt Back 8 weeks ago. Still having pain that radiates?

I was doing Bikram yoga about 7 weeks ago and notices that my lower back was hurting at the end of the class. Over the next several weeks it got worse and worse. I went to my gen. pract and the gave me cortozone steroids , pain killers and muscle relaxers ..not much changed. It got worse so I went to a chiro practor who, of course, told me i was outta allignment. After a few treatments i noticed a little relief but the pain comes back. I am so fustrated because I havent been exercising because I am afraid the pain will come back.. also went to an Orthopedist and he said my spine was fine… I am supposed to go to a Neurologist soon… The pain has raidated from my lower back to my upper back, schoulder, and neck.. I am scared that it will never go away.. any one ever deal with this or have any suggestions??? I have been using a tens unit and it seems to provide some temporary relief

Can anyone help me with my bad back pain?

I’m only 15 years old, but my family’s observed that I have the skeletal structure of a person three times my age. About a year or three ago, a bone doctor we went to diagnosed me with extremely mild scoliosis, saying that it was in a state that it could fix itself over time with proper stretching exercises a couple of times a day. It was okay for a while, and I would get the occasional slight strain whenever my backpack would be too heavy, but the pain didn’t increase until just recently. I can’t look down anymore, (like on my desk), without having this horrible wrenching feeling around my spine. It feels like my spine is a small twig being bent outward from itself, and it makes me sit in a painfully upright position just to get some relief. The pain goes from the place where my spine connects with my head, to my shoulder blades, to my upper back, to my middle back, (occasionally my lower, but not always.) Just the other night, I got up from the couch and started yelling out from the pain, feeling like my spine or bones around it were really going to snap in half. I’ve had back problems for as long as I can remember, (even early-to-mid childhood), and the doctors usually don’t find anything really wrong, which causes my mom a little bit of skepticism whenever it comes to taking me to the doctor, plus with my missing school, she doesn’t have a choice anyway. But I really need some sort of quick at-home remedy for this; it’s getting ridiculous. I almost feel like I have to be like Michelangelo and lay down on my back and look forward just to do my Geometry worksheet, that’s how bad it feels.

Back pain. please help!!!?

i am male 31 years old. i have tried to search for the answers to my back pain but no luck, i really hope that i get it here. Firstly the area of pain is in the upper back on the left hand side, next to spine and almost exactly behind my heart. now it all started about 19 odd years a ago while i was doing squats, that i felt a sudden current in this area put no pain. Thereafter i use to get the sweet itch in the same spot occasionally which used to go away by scratching it a bit hard. now there on, it started building up a sweet pain + itch and then intense pain + itch and then only pain and then it became a continuous pain without any stops. i used to put a tennis ball at the back while driving to get a minute of relief. it has been a chronic pain torture. Past one year the intensity has increased and i can feel the pain in the spot while i breathe in. At times i feel to cut my effected muscle from the back. i have been to a lot of doctors and all i get after 100 K tests is pain killers. They say it’s not cardiac it’s muscular but no permanent solution. Desperately waiting for a reply.

Neck Pain Osteoporosis

Can men develope osteoporosis?

I am a 48 yr old man. there is a family history of osteoporosis on my mothers side. but my doctors insist that men do not get this problem. after a scan revealed that i have middle of the road levels of osteoporosis my doctors all 3 men just smirk and say that the clinic have over exaggerated and its shin splint even though the pain has now developed in my shoulders and neck. So if you you have some medical knowledge could you please give me some feed back. Thank you.

That’s really irresponsible of your doctor! Of course men can get osteoporosis, it’s just more common in women because of pregnancy and breast feeding. See a female doctor perhaps, or just find one with some common sense.
